Nutter versus Taubenberger in YouTube debate

Philadelphia Inquirer, October 15, 2007

Maybe this time, Republican Al Taubenberger and Democrat Michael Nutter will actually disagree on something.

Even if that doesn't happen, tonight's mayoral forum on environmental issues at the Academy of Natural Sciences promises to be notable for its format. For the first time in Philadelphia, the two candidates will answer questions submitted by people via YouTube. The exchange is patterned after CNN's YouTube forums for presidential candidates.

The forum is scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m., and will focus on how the next mayor can build a "sustainable" Philadelphia on a tight budget, organizers say. Sponsors are the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society; the Next Great City project; and the Urban Sustainability Forum.

The event will be broadcast at several satellite sites: Temple University's main campus, 1801 N. Broad St., 301 Tuttleman Hall; Temple University's Ambler campus, 580 Meetinghouse Rd, 211 Widener Hall, Ambler; the Partnership CDC, 4020 Market St.; and Germantown Friends School, 31 W. Coulter St.
